Lakes on Durmitor

The beauty of the Durmitor massif is given a special boost by 18 glacial lakes, called GORSKE OCI, at heights above 1500 meters. The largest and most attractive is Black Lake. In addition to the beauty of the lake basin and the sparkling water surface, the vast forest area that surrounds it and the peak of Medjeda, towering majestically above it, contribute to the magnificence of the landscape.

Zminje lake: Downstream from Jablan lake at the source of the Mlinski potok spring, Zminje lake is located. Hidden in the depths of the forest, icy silence, as if its role is to encourage loneliness and to think about it. The altitude of this lake is 1520 m, and the greatest depth is 7.7 m
Volovito jezero: the altitude of this lake is 1695 meters and the greatest depth is 3.5 meters.
Blue lake: It is located at the foot of the Durmitor peak called Sedlena greda, at an altitude of 1609 m, while the water depth reaches a maximum of 3.3 m. When you look at the color of this lake, you will understand how it got its name. There are trout in the lake, and wild ducks often live in it. A little further from this lake, separated by a morainic pass, is the SRABLJE JEZERO. This is one of the smallest Durmitor lakes, with a maximum depth of 1.5 meters. The people of Durmitor bathe in its water, believing that it is curative for skin diseases, which is why it got its name. WAVY LAKE is right there near them.
Zminicko jezero: In just a few minutes' drive to the Zabljak village of Njegoudje, there is one of the 18 lakes in the Durmitor region, Zminicko jezero. It got its name from the town of Zminice, where this gem of nature is located. The lake, which receives its water from the spring melting of abundant snow from the surrounding mountains, is narrowed into a bay, surrounded by coniferous forests, whose trees are reflected in the lake's icy water, giving it a color that you can hardly see in other places. Around the lake, which is 280 meters long and 240 meters wide, there is a hiking trail, so you can admire this glacial pearl from all angles, and also enjoy the nature that surrounds it. The depth of the lake, which reaches up to 6 meters, also hides the serdar newt, a species of mountain davzdenyak, which found its home in this lake, and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.
Dry puddle: Located in the Poscen Valley, at 1594 m above sea level, it is only 1.8 km away from the Poscen Lake, and reaches a maximum depth of 1 m. In the central part of Durmitor, at an altitude of 2028 meters, there is the GREEN SPRING.
Malo Skrcko jezero: In the large circus of Skrka, there is a SMALL SKRCKO LAKE. It is located at 1711 meters above sea level, with an average depth of 5.9 m. Further away from these lakes in the direction of the village of Nedajno is SUSICKO JEZERO
Zeleni vir: In the central part of Durmitor at an altitude of 2028 m, there is ZELENI VIR. It is 1 km from the highest peak of Durmitor, Bobotov kuk, Zeleni vir is 50 m long, 40 m wide and 2 m deep.
Lake Susicko: At an altitude of 1140m, this lake is a representative of the periodic lakes of Durmitor.
Barno jezero: The lake has a small area, and its sides are overgrown with dense marsh vegetation, while in its surroundings there is a pine forest. According to popular belief, the water of this lake is medicinal, especially for skin diseases. The maximum depth of this lake is only 1 meter.
Lake Zaboj: Its name comes from the nearby katun Zaboj, which in the past, during the summer cattle drive, was well cut. The lake is located at 1477 m above sea level, and its maximum depth is 18.8 m. There are several periodic lakes in our area, which usually appear in spring and autumn, when there are heavy rains. Among them, the most famous is SEVARITA LOKVA - a hydrographic object that lies near the Vrazje and Riblje jezeras and looks a lot like them. Its maximum depth is 1 meter.
Srable Lake: It is located a little further from Blue Lake, separated by a morainic pass. This lake is one of the smallest lakes in Durmitor, with a maximum depth of 1.5 m.
Jablan lake or Small lake as it is also called and if it bears this name, it is more spacious and deeper (8.5m) than some other lakes on Durmitor. The Jablan lake at 1791 m above sea level only complements the beauty of this entire area with its beauty.
Vrazje lake: When you go from Zabljak towards Niksic, on the ninth kilometer of the road, easily visible from the higher ground, there is VRAZIJE JEZERO - a cradle of winged horses. At an altitude of 1411m, it is 10.6m deep and wide open to the sun, located on the Jezersko-Drobnjacka surface, next to the main caravan road, which in the past connected Onogost-Niksic with Taslidza-Pljevlja.
Veliko Skrcko Lake: It is located at an altitude of 1686 m above sea level, with a maximum depth of 17.2 m. The color of the water of this lake is greenish, and the maximum transparency reaches 8.5 m.
